Ducati Wins for the First Time on Isle of Man TT Course Since 1995

Ducati has had to wait almost 30 years to spray the winners champagne at the Isle of Man, but that all changed with Mike Browne’s win at the Manx GP.

After finishing fourth in the Carole Nash Senior Classic race, the first of five races that took place on Monday’s final day of action, Browne then suffered immense disappointment in the Lightweight race as he was forced to retire.

But Browne wasted no time in picking himself back up as he took his Ducati 916 to a famous victory on the Isle of Man TT course, the first for Ducati in nearly 30 years. A race that was expected to run over two laps instead became one when deteriorating conditions meant the race was halted after one tour of the island.

Despite the stoppage, Browne looked to be untouchable as he led by over 13 seconds when the race was brought to an end. To give his achievement some perspective - only two Ducatis were in the field for the RST Classic Superbike race and the second of those was last in the hands of Samuel West.

Browne took his Bike Specialist Ducati & Key Racing 916 machine to victory over the much favoured Kawasaki ZX7 which filled out second place down to sixth. Ducati success in world championship racing, particularly MotoGP in 2024, has been nothing short of spectacular.

But the Italian company, besides Toprak Razgatlioglu’s brilliance aboard the M 1000 RR BMW in WorldSBK this year, has shown very little signs of slowing down after also dominating 2022 and 2023 in both championships.

But the road racing scene has not traditionally been an area where Ducati has been the bike to be on. However, Browne’s win is a big one for the Italian brand, not just because of the time gap since it last sprayed the winners champagne on the roads, but because it did so on the legendary TT course.
