54 years 8 monthsMotoGP will return to Brno for the first time since 2020 after penning a multi-year deal that will see it race in the Czech Republic until 2029.
The Brno circuit was forced to end its participation in the MotoGP championship following 2020 due to financial issues, however, the Czech circuit finds itself in a much more stable position now. Brad Binder, who was a rookie in 2020, remains the last rider to have won at Brno in MotoGP.
Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “We’re delighted to be able to announce our return to Brno. It’s a classic, with a fantastic layout that has staged some really memorable moments in its long history in MotoGP. We’re really excited to return and stage more, with the Tissot Sprint every weekend and even more for fans to enjoy on site to get closer to their heroes than ever.
“We’ve seen the hillsides here packed with passion for our sport so many times – when it was the best-attended Grand Prix of the year on a number of occasions – and we’re very happy to bring MotoGP back to our fans in Czechia."
Brno has staged over 50 MotoGP races and was a rider’s favourite before suffering financial issues. The circuit, which is unchanged, hosted a Grand Prix race every year from 1987 until 2020, with the exception of 1992.
The 2025 calendar has already seen major changes with Thailand becoming the new season-opener, while Kazakhstan will make its debut in 2025 after its inaugural MotoGP race in 2024 fell through due to operational and logistical difficulties.
"I always trusted MotoGP will return to Brno,” said Jan Šťovíček, President of Czech Republic Autoclub. “All these years I was asked many times by riders, team officials, Dorna and FIM people what is happening there and when we will be back, because everybody loves Brno.
“This was made possible with the change of circuit owner, as the new owner decided to invest in [the] development of this iconic facility. Big thanks to the Czech Government and Prime Minister Mr. Fiala, South Moravian Region and Governor Mr. Grolich, City of Brno and its Mayor Mrs. Vaňková, and the event partner Creditas Group!"
