New BMW F800/F900GS trio revealed
It's bye-bye F750/850 and hello to the F800/900GS and Adventure, which bring with them bigger engines and more stuff

54 years 8 monthsBMW has just revealed its updated and enlarged new F800 and F900 GS middleweight adventure bike family, replacing the old F750 and F850 versions that date back to 2018.
The three new bikes are the F800GS, F900GS and F900GS Adventure, which supersede the old F750GS, F850GS and F850GS Adventure.
As the numbers suggest, the key update across all three is a rise in capacity of the F-series parallel twin engine, with all three going from 853cc to 895cc.
(Yes, we know that’s a little confusing, but the old F750 was 853cc, too, but with a lower state of tune. Even more confusingly, the old F750 and F850 in turn had replaced the previous F700 and F800 which were originally launched in 2008, so there’s now even more potential for getting your F800s mixed up…)
That capacity increase in turn has helped boost performance. The new F800GS, which is the entry-level bike of the trio, now produces peak power of 87bhp at 6750rpm (compared to the old F750’s 76.4bhp); while the two new F900GSs both produce 105bhp at 8500rpm (compared to the old F850’s 84bhp).
But the new engine (in the 900’s case lifted from that of the F900XR) isn’t the new GS's only change. The introductory F800GS now gets a 6.5-inch TFT dash as standard along with an uprated LED headlight, heated grips, hand protectors, top-case carrier and styling tweaks. Its price has already been announced as £9,995 and will be available in early 2024.
The higher specification F900GS, meanwhile, has also had its weight reduced by a healthy 14kg due in part to a much lighter plastic fuel tank and swingarm. There’s updated styling, a standard Akrapovic sports can, new, fully adjustable inverted telescopic front forks, uprated LED headlight, heated grips and hand guards as standard. The F900GS has been priced at £11,995 in the UK and will be available in dealers in early 2024.
Finally, the range-topping F900GS Adventure, which, like its current 1250 bigger brother is distinguished by its bigger fuel tank, longer travel off-road suspension, extra protection bars and more rugged styling, also gets new, fully adjustable inverted front forks, new LED lights and side panels, styling tweaks, plus standard heated grips and an aluminium engine guard. This version is priced at £12,350 – before you hit the accessories catalogue at least – and will also be available from early 2024.
All three bikes also feature two riding modes, ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’ as standard with ‘Ride Modes Pro’, with three additional riding modes, available as an extra cost option. They also feature ABS Pro and DTC as standard with the more sophisticated Dynamic Brake Control (DBC) and engine drag torque control again available as an extra cost option.
The entry-level F800GS is also available in A2 licence-compliant 35kW/47bhp form, giving younger riders on restricted licenses a taste of GS life.
As for colours, the new F800GS is available in white, blue or black; the 900GS will come in black, yellow or white and the GS Adventure is being offered in black or white.
