2024 will see the first year of the new Kawasaki British Superteen series as a part of the British Superbike Championship, and a documentary has been released exploring the new championship.

The documentary series, whose first episode was released yesterday (25 January 2024), will follow the first season of the championship which will begin later this year at the first round of the British Superbike Championship at the Circuito de Navarra in Spain on 20-21 April.

This first episode, which you can watch above, explores the formation of the series, and the category’s justification, both from Kawasaki’s side and from that of BSB, which wanted a replacement class for the Junior Supersport class which ran to similar technical regulations as the World Supersport 300 championship.

The opening episode also reveals some details about the rider roster for the inaugural season, with many international riders set to compete, including those from the US, Australia, India, and Ireland. Age-wise, the championship is open to riders aged between 15 and 20. Further, the episode features confirmation that the championship will feature on the schedule for the 2024 UK Round of WorldSBK, currently set for 12-14 July.

The Superteen class will exclusively make use of the Kawasaki ZX-4RR 399cc inline-four cylinder sports bike - about which there was much excitement in the build-up to its launch, but whose specifications mean it doesn’t quite fit into an existing racing class.

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department at Kawasaki UK, said: “The 2024 Tracker Kawasaki British Superteen Championship is shaping up to be an incredible year, and we are all really excited to get round one underway in May. There is a lot of work going on before then, though, and this new docuseries will take fans behind the scenes, giving them exclusive access as the drama unfolds and unique insight into the Championship.”
